LOOP PACK 01
The OpenAI Deployment Company FDE loop, prepped like you already have the interview
OpenAI launched its deployment subsidiary, DeployCo, in May 2026 and seeded it by acquiring Tomoro, an applied-AI consultancy reported at roughly 150 engineers and deployment specialists. Its board lists 30 live requisitions as of 2026-10-28. Prep content exists for OpenAI's parent-company FDE loop. For DeployCo's own, the only prep page we found on 2026-10-28 (Scoutify) uses its standard software-engineering template. DeployCo is a separate subsidiary with its own hiring board, and it publishes no interview process for individual candidates. That gap is the edge.
Everything below is free to read. We checked every board number on this page against the company's own hiring board on 2026-10-28. Boards move, so open the role links before you plan around a number.
For timed, graded practice on loops like this one, A10X lifetime is $249 once: the 14-day sprint, the AI FDE coach and the Case-Study Arena.
Interviewing in the next few weeks? The 30-day pass is $49 once, nothing renews.
What we know about the loop, tagged by how we know it
- The official name is The OpenAI Deployment Company, self-shortened to DeployCo. It describes itself as "the deployment arm of OpenAI" and "a subsidiary of OpenAI and funded with a partnership of outside investors". Both lines come from the job descriptions on its hiring board: as of 2026-10-28, 28 of its 30 postings carry the first word for word and 27 the second; 2 more reword the second.
- Hiring runs on Ashby: 30 live requisitions as of 2026-10-28. Forward Deployed Engineer roles in New York, London, Paris, Singapore, Sydney and Abu Dhabi, plus a cybersecurity FDE and a cleared FDE (active U.S. government security clearance required, also listing Washington, D.C.) in New York; Technical Deployment Lead roles in New York, including a cybersecurity one and a cleared one, and in Abu Dhabi; Principal, Strategic Accounts roles in New York (general, cybersecurity, life sciences) and Abu Dhabi; an "Apply with Your Team" track; a product lead for internal products; plus IT, security, revenue operations, legal, finance, corporate development, workplace and real estate, travel and expense, executive support and recruiting roles. Most US roles list San Francisco as a second location.
- The US Forward Deployed Engineer role: New York or San Francisco, hybrid 3 days a week in office, up to 50% travel, $170,000 to $400,000 plus equity. Under "You may thrive in this role if you" it lists 4+ years of engineering experience, production-grade code across frontend and backend in JavaScript or Python, and 0-to-1 reusable-capability building. The posting has no separate list of requirements. The posting describes "player-coach" expectations with a fast ramp to management.
- Non-US FDE comp, published on the board: London £90K to £150K, Paris €115K to €200K, Singapore SGD 145K to 350K, Sydney A$135K to 360K, Abu Dhabi AED 580K to 1.1M, all plus equity. The Singapore posting's board publish date is 2026-08-21, and it is live as of 2026-10-28.
- The companion delivery role is Technical Deployment Lead ($170K to $400K plus equity in New York). It leads day-to-day technical delivery, coordinates FDEs, researchers and customer engineers, owns value cases, KPIs, adoption tracking and change management. Under "You may thrive in this role if you" it lists 5+ years in any of customer-facing technical delivery, technical program management, deployment, consulting, solutions engineering or implementation leadership.
- Northslope is NOT another name for this org. It is a separate applied-AI firm that DeployCo agreed to acquire on 2026-07-08, its second acquisition after Tomoro. Announced on DeployCo's own site.
- Tomoro's old site, tomoro.ai, now redirects permanently to deploy.co.
- On deploy.co, under "Forward deployed engineering at OpenAI", it describes the delivery motion: FDEs "work directly with customers to solve a specific problem, validate impact, and then identify patterns that can scale", "build from first principles", and "deliver early value, then iterate toward scale".
- It showcases two OpenAI customer stories, which link to openai.com: BBVA scaling ChatGPT Enterprise to 120,000 employees across 25 countries, and John Deere.
- Launch coverage reports more than $4B of initial capital from 19 investors led by TPG, with Advent, Bain Capital and Brookfield co-leading, plus consultancies Bain & Company, Capgemini and McKinsey among the partners. OpenAI holds majority ownership and control.
- Tomoro brought roughly 150 engineers and deployment specialists. Its clients included Tesco, Virgin Atlantic, Supercell, Fidelity International, Red Bull and Mattel.
What nobody outside can know yet
- No candidate has published an interview report for DeployCo itself that we could find (one web search naming Blind, Reddit and Glassdoor, 2026-10-28; what it turned up covers OpenAI's parent-company loop or FDE interviews in general). OpenAI's parent-company FDE loop is documented publicly by third parties, but whether DeployCo inherits any of it is unknown: separate subsidiary, separate board, and no published process for individual candidates. One prep site, Scoutify, has a DeployCo page ("Sources reviewed 2026-10-19"), but its interview section is the "Standard software engineering loop" template it uses for other companies. The one published exception is DeployCo's "Apply with Your Team" track: that posting says a team's interviews include "individual conversations and technical assessment, alongside a working session designed to understand how you solve problems together", with every person "held to the same bar as other DeployCo candidates for the relevant role". The simulation therefore trains the judgment its postings describe, not a memorized stage list.
- No pod size is published, and no engagement length for DeployCo's FDE work. The nearest number is a deploy.co post from 2025-12-19, before DeployCo launched, giving an "idea to live" cadence of 8-12 weeks for one offering, ChatGPT Apps builds. The "Apply with Your Team" posting says DeployCo "works in small, multidisciplinary teams", without a headcount. It takes applicant teams of two to five, but that is who may apply together, not a pod size. The equity component of comp is unstated.
