Distyl AI embeds forward-deployed engineers in Fortune 500 companies to build agentic AI on its Distillery platform, tying part of each project fee to client-defined outcomes. Founded in 2022 by two Palantir alumni, it has raised $202M and was valued at $1.8B in September 2025.
Their role in FDE
- The play
- Both co-founders came from Palantir, where CEO Arjun Prakash managed 30+ forward-deployed strategists and engineers and helped create Foundry. Distyl sells Fortune 500 companies multi-year deployments that pair embedded engineers and researchers with its own Distillery platform.
- The economics
- Part of each project fee rides on client-defined outcomes, on top of recurring Distillery licensing, and contracts can reach tens of millions of dollars. One case study: $200M+ in projected opex savings for a Fortune 100 telecom operator.
- The edge
- Distillery turns standard operating procedures into auditable, policy-aware agentic workflows and traces every decision to the exact knowledge state at runtime. Distyl reports a 100% production record and says its systems reach 150M+ end users.
- The catch
- Its partners are also its rivals. Distyl has been an OpenAI services alliance partner since April 2023, yet OpenAI's Deployment Company competes for the same Fortune 500 budgets, and Microsoft Frontier overlaps with it in the Azure co-sell channel Distyl also uses.

Key findings
- The September 2025 Series B ($175M) valued Distyl at $1.8B, 9x the $200M valuation Crunchbase reported for its November 2024 Series A.
- Both co-founders came from Palantir. CEO Arjun Prakash was there from 2013 to 2021 and managed 30+ forward-deployed strategists and engineers; COO Derek Ho was there from 2017 to 2022.
- Distyl ties part of each project fee to client-defined business outcomes and charges recurring licensing fees for Distillery; multi-year contracts can reach tens of millions of dollars.
- T-Mobile is a named customer: Distyl says it worked with T-Mobile on the AI Assistant in the T-Life app, built with OpenAI under T-Mobile's IntentCX program. Its other published case studies identify clients only by Fortune rank and industry, such as "F20 Healthcare Payor".
- Distyl lists London as its third office, doubled its New York office to 30,076 sq ft in September 2026, and said in a July 2026 job posting that it was building systems to support 500+ employees, up from about 180.

What they do
What Distyl sells
Distyl sells multi-year deployments to Fortune 500 and Global 2000 companies. Each combines embedded forward-deployed engineers and researchers, the Distillery platform, and applied AI research on the client's workflows. An AI Strategist leads each engagement with a technical lead, and the team shares accountability for business results. CEO Arjun Prakash says Distyl delivers outcomes within three months.
The Distillery platform
Distillery turns enterprise standard operating procedures and subject-matter experts' knowledge into Routines: auditable, policy-aware agentic workflows. It has four layers: the Context Layer structures fragmented enterprise knowledge into a queryable semantic layer; in the Autonomous Solution Delivery Layer, non-engineers build and refine workflows in plain language; the Control Layer handles governance, tracing every decision to the exact knowledge state at runtime; and the Application Layer runs production deployment and monitoring. Products include Weave (autonomous system construction), Context Mesh (knowledge structuring), Journey (an AI voice layer), Personalization (1:1 customer engagement across app, web, chat and contact center) and Canary (self-improvement and monitoring). Distillery is SOC 2 compliant and listed on the Azure Marketplace.
Customers and use cases
Distyl's customers are Fortune 500 enterprises, Fortune 100 companies among them, in regulated, data-intensive industries. Use cases include contact-center intelligence and AI-native operations for telecom operators; prior authorization, contract management and remote patient monitoring for healthcare payers; and auto finance, fraud detection and underwriting in financial services. It also serves insurers, advanced manufacturers (supply-chain disruption analysis, root-cause resolution) and consumer goods and retail companies (order management). T-Mobile has been named publicly as a customer; published case studies identify other clients by Fortune rank and industry, such as "F20 Healthcare Payor" for a Fortune 20 healthcare payer.
Pricing
Part of each project fee depends on meeting business objectives the client defines, and recurring licensing fees pay for ongoing Distillery access. Contracts run over multiple years and can reach tens of millions of dollars. Distyl has disclosed no per-seat, per-token or time-and-materials pricing.
Models and cloud
Distyl builds on models from OpenAI, Anthropic and Google (Gemini); OpenAI has been a services alliance partner since April 2023. Its cloud partners are Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud, which in April 2026 named Distyl an early and priority partner in its Gemini Enterprise transformation program. Since March 2026, Distillery has also integrated NVIDIA AI Enterprise software, including open Nemotron 3 Super models served through NVIDIA NIM microservices. Deployments run Distyl-hosted, in customer VPCs or on-premises, across AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Target customers
- Fortune 500 and Global 2000 enterprises in regulated, data-intensive industries: telecom operators, healthcare payers, insurers, financial services firms and advanced manufacturers. Consumer goods and retail companies are customers too.
- Pricing model
- Outcome-based hybrid: part of each project fee depends on client-defined business objectives, plus recurring Distillery licensing fees. Contracts run several years and can reach tens of millions of dollars. No per-seat, per-token or time-and-materials pricing disclosed.
- Tech stack
- Distillery has four layers: Context, Autonomous Solution Delivery, Control and Application. Its products are Weave, Context Mesh, Context Views, Journey, Personalization, Capture and Canary. It supports models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini) and NVIDIA (Nemotron, via NVIDIA AI Enterprise and NIM). Distyl works with Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud and deploys in customer VPCs or on premises across AWS, Azure and GCP. SOC 2 compliant; listed on Azure Marketplace.

Where they lead · structural gaps · competitors
Market position
- Where they lead
- Fortune 500 and Fortune 100 enterprises in regulated, data-intensive industries such as telecom, healthcare payers, insurers and advanced manufacturers, on multi-year embedded engagements that can reach tens of millions of dollars. Distyl raised a $175M Series B in September 2025 and has partnerships with Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud and NVIDIA.
- Structural gaps
- Distyl requires customers to license Distillery and staff a multi-month embedded team, and contracts can reach tens of millions of dollars. That makes it a poor fit for startups, scale-ups and Series A–D companies, and for short, vendor-neutral engagements or work meant to speed up a client's own team.
Competes with
- Palantir Technologies Specialist Both Distyl co-founders came from Palantir. The two compete for large-enterprise deals that pair forward-deployed engineers with a platform.
- OpenAI Deployment Company Frontier lab OpenAI's forward-deployed unit competes for the same Fortune 500 agentic-AI transformation budgets. Distyl is also an OpenAI services alliance partner, so OpenAI is both a channel and a rival.
- Ode (with Anthropic) Frontier lab Anthropic-aligned deployment specialist competing for agentic AI work in regulated industries.
- Microsoft Frontier Hyperscaler Microsoft's forward-deployed unit; it overlaps with Distyl in the Azure enterprise co-sell channel, which Distyl also uses.
- AWS Forward-Deployed Engineering Hyperscaler Forward-deployed engineers employed by AWS itself, competing for the same enterprise transformation contracts.
- Accenture / EY (legacy consultancies) Incumbent management consultancies; Distyl pitches itself against them on technical depth and accountability for outcomes.
