Method and limits
A posting counts when its title contains forward deployed, FDE, deployment strategist, deployed engineer or AI deployment engineer. Engineer, deployment strategist and FDE management titles count in the totals. Titles that borrow the phrase for other jobs, such as forward deployed banker, lawyer, product manager, architect or researcher, stay in the file with a flag and are left out of every figure here. US pay uses engineer titles only, excludes internships, requires every listed location to be in the US and records the first range on each posting. The snapshot removes 9 recruiting-agency postings for an unnamed client and 43 duplicate listings of the same employer, title and location set.
Limits: matching is by title, so FDE work posted under another title is missing. Employers that post only on LinkedIn, Indeed or applicant systems outside these four boards are missing. Posted ranges are not offers and do not include equity value. This is one snapshot with no history yet. None of these figures predicts the pay of any candidate, including anyone in an FDE Dispatch program.
Download the snapshot: CSV, JSON and field notes. 778 rows, one per posting, each linked to its source. All published datasets are listed on FDE Dispatch job-posting data.
What these posted ranges do and do not tell you
Posted ranges are the pay-transparency figures on a single req: base salary, OTE, or a wide band that covers several levels. They show the floor and ceiling the employer published for that title and location set, and whether the posting mentions equity, bonus, commission, or location bands. They are not a promise of total compensation, and they are not an average across the market.
They do not tell you the offer you will get, the equity grant size, refreshers, signing bonus value, or how often hires land near the top of the band. Location bands, seniority in the title, and public-sector or clearance roles move the numbers inside this table.

What drives FDE pay differences in these postings
Four patterns drive the pay differences in these rows: location bands, seniority in the title, public-sector and clearance roles, and equity or OTE wording.
- Location bands. Scale Public Sector posts three US base bands. Salesforce posts a typical US base range and a higher band for California, New York, and select metros.
- Seniority in the title. Scale lists Frontier Agents Engineer and Senior Frontier Agents Engineer as separate postings with different base floors. Palantir lists an experienced FDSE band and a narrower new-grad US Government band; every Palantir US posted range by role family is on Palantir Forward Deployed Engineer.
- Public-sector and clearance roles. OpenAI Forward Deployed Software Engineer, Gov, Palantir New Grad US Government (clearance or clearance eligibility), and Scale Public Sector sit in this table with their own posted ranges.
- Equity and OTE wording. Most rows mention equity or RSUs. Harvey posts OTE with a 75/25 split. Salesforce posts base salary only.
