Yesterday, Tencent officially released Buddy One.
It uses WorkBuddy as its foundation and links Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting, ima, and Tencent Drive, among other in-house apps.
In everyday work, materials are scattered across several places: articles saved in ima, written content in Docs, and discussed opinions left in meeting notes.
Once connected, you can ask WorkBuddy directly to look up all the materials in your apps.
This time, I'll walk you through a real-world experience of the full suite.
A small tip: the WorkBuddy desktop client needs to be updated to version 5.9.0 or above.
You can check the current version in the top-left corner of the page.
Once you've confirmed your version meets the requirement, open the personal entry at the bottom left, go to "Settings," and find "Personal Homepage."
Here you can see the account linking for the Buddy One product suite.
I've already linked mine. If it's your first time, click "Link" on this page and follow the prompts to link the account where you usually save materials.
Be very careful here: once linked, unbinding is not currently supported.
Make sure to link an account you use regularly.
You can also click "Go to Management Center" to link.
Linking accounts is free; you don't need to buy Buddy One VIP first.
Previously, calling other apps through connectors generally caused authorization to expire after 7 days, requiring reconnection.
This time, linking is done at the account level, so there's no need to repeatedly authorize or shuttle context back and forth.
With the linking done, let's try it with a small question.
I first asked it this:
Help me find the materials I've saved about using WorkBuddy together with ima. I can't remember the file names—search the linked apps first and give me the sources too.
Here I didn't provide file names, nor did I tell it which knowledge base to look through.
I even turned off the connectors in advance, just to see whether it was truly connected.
In the results, it searched every retrievable library, including the apps linked this time.
There were competitor breakdowns, automation prompts, hands-on scripts, full text, and even the image directories from back then. It listed the files and explained what each one contained.
It even gave me the local file paths.
That's really thoughtful.
Because there are so many apps, each with its own storage folder, finding a specific document can feel like looking for a needle in a haystack.
You can also ask like this in daily use:
I once saved materials about [a certain topic] that mentioned [details you remember]. Help me find them and give me the sources too.
You don't need to write a complicated prompt. Just say what you still remember and let it narrow down the scope first.
This time, I wanted to be more targeted and asked it to summarize my work items for this month.
Help me find the Tencent Docs I've edited and the Tencent Meetings I've held in the past month.
It then listed the basic information of the documents and meetings it found in detail.
OK, it can find the basic information.
But can it know the actual content? What's written in the documents, what was discussed in the meetings?
What does that edited document say, and what was discussed in the meeting on the 26th?
This is where it gets interesting.
I was continuing the earlier conversation—no file names pasted, no meeting notes copied into WorkBuddy.
It organized the document's title, the time range covered by the daily report, and the main content, all item by item.
For the Tencent Meeting on the 26th, it organized the discussion by topic direction and separately listed the follow-up arrangements.
I always forget the details after meetings, and reviewing screen recordings and summaries while cross-referencing documents is quite a hassle.
Now, within the same conversation, you can look up document and meeting content—what opinions were raised at the time and what should be changed next.
So satisfying!!
If your documents and meetings happen to revolve around the same project, you can go one step further.
Compare this meeting with that proposal and see which changes requested in the meeting still haven't been incorporated.
True human-machine collaboration, where humans only need to make decisions.
Seeing several products bundled together, many people's first reaction is: do I have to buy another membership?
Linking accounts is one thing; buying Buddy One VIP is another.
The VIP bundles WorkBuddy flagship benefits, Tencent Meeting Professional, Tencent Docs Super Member Plus, plus shared credits and 1TB of storage.
But free linking doesn't mean unlimited free AI tasks.
After linking, WorkBuddy credits are upgraded to Buddy One universal credits. When you consume credits in one product, the shared balance seen in other products decreases as well.
The independent credits in Tencent Docs and ima will not be automatically merged or zeroed out due to linking; they still follow their own rules.
Tencent Docs and ima deduct Buddy One credits by default, but you can also choose to use their own credits.
If the shared credits run out, the AI capabilities of WorkBuddy and Tencent Drive will be suspended; Tencent Docs and ima have their own remaining quotas and can still be used.
Base plan credits and bonus plan credits expire at the end of the current cycle and are not carried over.
To know where your money is going, check the consumption details in "Plans & Credits," which can be viewed by product. Whether to buy VIP should be decided based on the membership benefits you'll actually use.
After two days of intensive use, I think it deserves a solid thumbs-up.
Previously, for old drafts and documents you had to find local paths yourself, and for meeting notes and cloud drive content you had to copy things over yourself.
Now a single sentence can locate the file and pull out its contents.
If you already use Tencent Docs, Tencent Meeting, or ima regularly, the experience will be extremely strong.
Only a few apps are linked so far, all Tencent's own, and I'm already looking forward to the day the Personal agent becomes a reality.
